Physician and Author Francisco Arredondo

Francisco “Paco” Arredondo, MD MPH

“I want to change the mentality—as well as the mythology—that physicians are bad business people. Physicians can be great entrepreneurs. They just don’t know it. Their medical  training provides the perfect hardware of the mind, thanks to their skillset; this book can upgrade physicians’ mental software, or attitude, to become the best business people—with exceptional ethics in business and management—in the 21st century as MedikalPreneurs.”

Dr. Arredondo is a MedikalPreneur at heart. He created that word to describe a physician who is an entrepreneur, because he’s on a quest to shatter the myth that doctors cannot become excellent business people. To change this, he’s sharing his template for success in his new book, MedikalPreneur: The Official Guidebook for Physicians’ Success in Business.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies School of Medicine in Monterrey, Mexico, he was honored as one of “the best medical students of the country”.

Dr. Arredondo’s passion for fertility began when he collaborated with a physician who was responsible for Mexico’s first In Vitro Fertilization baby in 1989. Later, Dr. Arredondo did research at a World Health Organization fertility center in Mexico City.

Then, in the USA, he did an internship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai at the Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, New York. After that, a residency in OBGYN in the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio. He completed a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He then was awarded a prize by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology to earn a Master of Public Health at Harvard University, where he focused on several aspects of management.

Dr. Arredondo subsequently was a rural OBGYN in Kentucky and became an Assistant Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Arredondo’s 40th birthday inspired a new path: to become a serial MedikalPreneur. In 2006, he moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he opened a small fertility center. Over the next 13 years, he expanded to four centers and 80 team members. He participated in 2 mergers and became the Chief Medical Officer of Inception Prelude overseeing 65 physicians nationwide. He sold all his shares in all the fertility companies and exited to take a sabbatical and write his book, MedikalPreneur, to be released in the Spring of 2021.

Dr. Arredondo truly believes that physicians are equipped with very unique skills (hardware) that form an excellent foundation to become exceptional business people. This, he says, simply requires an upgrade to the MedikalPreneurial (software of the mind). Now he’s showing medical professionals how to follow his successful blueprint to create fulfilling, prosperous, and impactful careers as entrepreneurs.
